Yes, we do! We have had many elderly or aged clients since we started our tutoring services in Geelong in 2012.

We also have had a number of disabled clients who wanted computer and iPad lessons:

• one client was profoundly deaf and we communicated by writing things down,
• another client was profoundly deaf and he came to us with an Auslan interpreter. We met in the Geelong library a few times for his lessons,
• another client had had a stroke and had lost a lot of his short term memory.

As you can see, we are able to offer lessons to a wide group of people.

Our approach to teaching computer, iPad, Android tablet lessons is 2-fold:

1. we ask our clients what it is that they want to learn before we have a lesson with them. We do not believe in teaching things that the client does not want to learn,
2. during the first lesson, we try to get to know the client in terms of: how much do they already know? how quickly do they pick up new information? and so on… We then use that information in subsequent lessons to make sure that the lessons are at the client’s level.

The good news is that our lessons also cover the practical aspects of using a computer, iPad or Android tablet:

• computers and laptops: switching on and off, how to use the mouse, the use of the right and left clicks, how to use the printer (switching on and off, loading paper), and lots more…
• iPads and Android tablets: switching on and off, the use of fingers (swipes, long press, short press,…), and lots more…

In other words, we cover the practical aspects of these devices, not just how to use the software.

If you are a beginner wanting to learn WordPress, then you can do so in a number of ways:

• do a search on YouTube for WordPress lessons,
• do a Google search for WordPress lessons,
• go to your local library or bookshop and see if they have books on learning WordPress,
• and so on…

This assumes, of course, that you are able to teach yourself or learn things on your own, which not every one can do, nor have the time to do it.

This leaves the best method to learn anything ie. take lessons from someone who knows, not just what you want to learn, but who is also good at communicating.

Can I order just the one lesson?

Of course you can! We understand that sometimes there is just the one thing you need help with such as: ‘how do sent an email attachment?’

Are the lessons hands-on?

Yes they are. The object of the lessons is for you to learn how to do something yourself which is why the lessons will be on your computer or laptop, and why the lessons will be hands on.

There will be times of course when we will show you how to do things, but that will be only so you see what you need to do. In such cases, we will ask you to repeat what we did several times until we are sure that you know how to do it.

What do I need for the lessons?

This depends on the lessons you will be needing. If you are wanting to learn to use your computer or laptop, then you will need to have your own computer or laptop with Internet access (we may be able to help you with that too). If you are wanting iPad lessons, then you will need to have your own iPad. And if you are wanting website lessons, then you will need a computer or laptop with Internet access.

Are you a patient teacher?

Yes I am! I understand that we all learn at different speeds, and that some of us pick things up quicker or slower than others. We also have 13 years Secondary College teaching experience in Maths, Science and Physics.

One of our past students left school at an early age and wanted to learn how to sell things on eBay. Although she doubted that she would ever be able to do it on her own, she is now a competent and regular seller of items on eBay.

What if I don’t know anything about computers?

That is not a problem as I can teach you everything you need to know to become proficient with your computer.

How many lessons will I need?

That is hard to tell as everyone learns at a different speed. If, at any time, you want to stop the lessons because you are running short on money, or you need time to digest what you have learnt, and so on… then let me know and we will stop the lessons until I hear from you that you would like to start up again.

What type of lessons do you offer?

I can offer a set course that will cover most things or I can . It really depends on what you want to learn.

What if I need to cancel a booked lessons?

That is not a problem. We can reschedule the lesson if you like, or we can leave it until you contact us once again.

As a courtesy, we do ask that you give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a lesson.

Do you really come to me to teach me on my computer or laptop?

Yes we do. We feel that it is vital that you learn on your very own computer or laptop as the layout on your screen (called the desktop) will be different to ours and we want to minimize confusion while you are learning.

How long are the lessons?

The lessons go for 1 hour.

Can I book just the one lesson as a trial?

Yes you can. We understand that you may feel to need to see if we get on well, if I am a patient and competent instructor, and so on… So feel free to book a trial lesson if you want to.

Understand that a trial lesson is charged at the same rate as a normal lesson.

What payments do you accept?

For convenience, we accept the usual cash only on completion of each lesson.

If you prefer, we can invoice you the lessons with our bank account details for you to make your payment.

What area do you service?

We service the whole of Geelong and Bellarine area.
